You guys, it's been a week since Prince died and the entire world is far from being over the grieving process. I know I'll be showing my age here (way over 20, but definitely under 40) when I reveal you my first conscious memory of exposure to a Prince song:
Oh Pretty Woman, just your usual rags-to-riches rom-com about a prostitute with fantastic oral hygiene. This scene is by far the one I remember most from my childhood; coming in a close second of course is "Big mistake. Big. HUGE." (I have no idea how old I was when I managed to see this movie, but I'm 100% sure I wasn't yet a teenager). Looking back, Pretty Woman is delightfully tame in comparison with the actual music video for Prince's Kiss:
Oh, former artist formerly known as Prince. We all loved you. You reached across boundaries and borders and managed to unite the musical tastes of both drag queens and their conservative, guitar-playing fathers. You will be sorely, sorely missed.
