The trio is complete. I'm so bad.

Today on Crazytown we finish the Amy triumvirate with a trainwreck: Amy Schumer.
I have to admit that I'm a recent convert to the church of Amy Schumer. I had only heard of her marginally before "Inside Amy Schumer" began appearing on Comedy Central. I watched and loved the show, but it wasn't until the 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer episode that Amy Sc was promoted to Amazing status.
If you haven't seen this episode in full, please take off of work and devote an afternoon to bask in it's hilarious, feminist glow. It's brilliant even if you haven't seen the play it's based on.
Amy Sc has an ability to call out the bullshit in a way I haven't seen anyone do since Dave Chappelle in Chappelle's Show (please don't leave after season 3, Amy.) Her commentary is not only spot on, but incredibly funny at the same time. That's not easy to do, folks. I present as evidence the following videos:
(Schumerenka vs Everett featuring Bridget Everett, another one of my favorite female performers)
(Last F*ckable Day)
(Milk Milk Lemonade)
(Court of Public Opinion: Trial of Bill Cosby)
But Amy Sc doesn't neglect to turn the mirror to herself or other women like her. She talks a little bit about that in this interview, but shows it in the following clips:
(Animal Rescue Hotline)
I will personally admit my guilt in using both the Old Navy sizing guide and the Universe as my personal compass for small life decisions. And needing therapy to help my mom with her computer. And adopting several animals that I can't afford.
So clearly Amy Sc is hilarious, but she's more than that. I'll leave you with this quote from her 2014 speech at The Gloria Awards and Gala, hosted by the Ms. Foundation for Women:
"I can be reduced to that lost college freshman so quickly sometimes, I want to quit. Not performing, but being a woman altogether. I want to throw my hands in the air, after reading a mean Twitter comment, and say, "All right! You got it. You figured me out. I'm not pretty. I'm not thin. I do not deserve to use my voice. I'll start wearing a burqa and start waiting tables at a pancake house. All my self-worth is based on what you can see." But then I think, Fuck that. I am not laying in that freshman year bed anymore ever again. I am a woman with thoughts and questions and shit to say. I say if I'm beautiful. I say if I'm strong. You will not determine my story — I will. I will speak and share and fuck and love and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it. I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself. And I am all of you, and I thank you."
Bonus points: I have a confession to make- I don't really know how to use Twitter. But I figured it out so that I could tweet to Amy Sc about how much I loved "12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer." She favorited my Tweet. So basically, we're best friends now.
